Caudale Beck Cottage sleeps from 2-6 people and is dog friendly. Built in 1699, this Grade II listed traditional Lakeland farmhouse nestles in seclusion at the end of its own driveway, about 300 yards from the Kirkstone Pass road.

It offers self catering accommodation for up to 6 people between Windermere, Ambleside and Patterdale, close to Brotherswater and Ullswater in the Lake District.

Caudale Beck Self Catering Accommodation Details

Caudale Beck has vast stone walls, lots of beams and interesting features, including a spice cupboard by the fireplace in the lounge. It is a very spacious property, where the provision of modern creature comforts has not been allowed to interfere with its traditional features and character appeal.

Downstairs

The entrance porch leads into the beamed farmhouse kitchen with oil-fired Rayburn, electric hob, microwave, usual cupboards, large pine dining table and chairs.

Leading off the kitchen is the old pantry, providing a spacious utility room, with a large larder fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, iron and ironing board, drying space, and plenty of useful cool shelf space.

There is a clothes airer above the Rayburn in the kitchen.

From the kitchen a door leads directly into the lovely oak-beamed lounge, with its open fire, comfy sofas, TV (via FreeSat) and DVD. There is also a separate dining room, furnished in antique pine, which makes a very quiet study area or board games room, if needed.

Upstairs

An inner hall (with coat hanging space) leads to the wide staircase and big landing above, where doors lead to all four bedrooms – two singles and two spacious king-sized doubles - including the Master Bedroom with en-suite shower room.

The family bathroom is big, with bath, hand basin and WC, and lovely views up to Middle Dodd.

The furnishings throughout are traditional antique oak and pine, in keeping with the character of this farmhouse. Heating is by the Rayburn, storage radiators, panel heaters and the open fire, for which fuel is provided.

Outside

Outside the farmhouse is a small paved area for sitting out or barbecues (BBQ not provided), and beyond that, plenty of hard standing for car parking. The adjacent barns are in use, and house cattle during the winter months.

This is a dog friendly cottage and welcomes well behaved Dogs. We accept either two small/medium or one large dog per cottage.

Please note all our cottages are non smoking. Also note the cottage is supplied by natural filtered Spring water - on arrival, run taps before drinking.
